Greve in Chianti
Located approximately 30km from Florence, Greve in Chianti is the main town closest to our venue, Castello di Gabbiano.
This quaint, tourist friendly town offers a variety of cafes, restaurants, and gelaterias for you to enjoy. On Saturdays there is a market in the main square for browsing local produce such as olive oil and cheese as well as souvenirs.
Located at the top of its famous triangular-shaped town centre is Greve’s Basilica of Santa Croce, where our wedding ceremony will take place on Friday 26th September 2025. Please note that while it shares a name with a church in Florence, this Basilica – and our wedding ceremony – is in Greve.
We recommend that you book into a hotel, Airbnb or apartment in Greve for the duration of the 3 nights (Thursday 25th – Sunday 28th September 2025). Please be mindful that taxi services are not common in the Chianti region so we recommend staying as close to the town centre as possible.
Transportation from Greve has been organized by the Bride and Groom to bring guests to and from Castello di Gabbiano for each of the organized wedding events.
Please check back at a later date for updates on the scheduled times for transport.
Florence
Approximately 40 minutes away from Castello di Gabbiano is the city of Florence. We strongly do not recommend staying in Florence from the 25th to 28th of September; however if you are arriving earlier, staying in Florence prior to the wedding may be of interest. The Irish travel in packs so no doubt you will see familiar faces around the city on the days leading up to the wedding!
